The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) is the oldest Hispanic/Latino/a/x civil rights organization in the United States. We are a volunteer-based organization that empowers Latinos and builds strong Latino communities. Our Mission is to advance the economic condition, educational attainment, political influence, housing, health and civil rights of the Hispanic/Latino/a/x population. Our Kansas LULAC Scholarship Fund was established to assist Latino/a/x Kansas students in completing their postsecondary education. Eligibility Requirements: 

Eligibility:

❏ High school seniors and continuing undergraduate college students preparing to enroll in a minimum of six credit hours in a post-secondary institution (community college, technical school, university-including graduate school, adult education program, etc.). Graduating undergraduate students are eligible if pursuing a graduate degree next fall (2021).

❏ Have completed high school diploma or GED at the time scholarship funds are disbursed, between late July and early August (2021-2022 academic year).

❏ Strong balance of grade point average (GPA), involvement & leadership in school and/or community activities, and well-written essay is expected in addition to submitting complete application materials.

❏ Must be a resident of Kansas (live and attend a school in Kansas).

Awards:

Scholarship amounts and number of recipients will be determined on the quality and quantity of applications received, and availability of funds. Historically, LULAC Kansas Scholarships have ranged between $350- $1,000. Applicants will be notified by the end of April. Awardees will be recognized during our virtual 2021 Kansas LULAC State Convention.

Selection criteria

Applications will be evaluated on the following criteria:

● All materials completed and submitted prior to deadline (application form, transcripts, and content of essay). Applications received after 11:59 pm on April 4 will not be considered.

● Evidence of academic merit and school/community involvement and leadership.

● Financial need and grade point average (GPA) will be taken into consideration.
